AVEVA Process Simulation can model a wide range of processes, including chemicals, sustainable technologies (green hydrogen, renewables, power-to-X, and recycling/circularity), gas processing, LNG, carbon capture and gas treating with amines and other solvents, refining, flare and utility networks, as well as water and wastewater systems.

While the legacy process simulators have a sequential modular (SM) solver, AVEVA Process Simulation has a rigorous equation oriented (EO) matrix solver that continuously solves with new inputs (and is therefore much faster than SM tools). AVEVA Process Simulation has specification swapping flexibility (no need for adjusts or controllers), has a role-based user interface, saves multiple cases with a single simulation topology, and offers continuous saving with the cloud. It also has open model writing with Python scripting and offers three different modes in the same program (steady state process, rating/fluid flow and dynamics) that can be transitioned seamlessly.

AVEVA Process Simulation integrates with AVEVA™ PI System™ for building online digital twins, as well as AVEVA™ Unified Engineering for integrating simulation data with engineering process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), datasheets, and 3D plant models.

General flowsheet models (flash drum, pump, compressor, expander), heat exchanger models (S&T, air cooled, plate fin), distillation models, reactor models, sustainability and renewables models (electrolyzers, solar panels, wind turbines, electric transmission components), pipe models, flare models, wastewater models, utility network models (steam, cooling water, fuel), economics (CAPEX and OPEX), and sustainability (scope 1 & 2 emissions) calculations.

Users can easily apply any externally trained ML model using any supported pipeline (Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.) to an AVEVA Process Simulation model via the Open Neural Network exchange (ONNX) adapter. In this way, users can create process data and cases to train an ML model, as well as incorporate an ML model into a flowsheet for “grey box” simulations (combining first principles heat and material balances with ML model data).

Yes, AVEVA Process Simulation is available via the cloud through AVEVA™ Simulation. Customers can access AVEVA PRO/II Simulation, AVEVA Process Simulation and AVEVA™ Dynamic Simulation through a single cloud environment (with a single cost) and deploy with speed via the cloud, reducing IT infrastructure and software installation.
