With 50% of its plant operators due to retire within ten years, BASF needed to scale its training programs and recruit staff fast. Rigorous health, safety and environmental practice is critical – but traditional training took too long. Now it was time to be bold – and build something scalable, sustainable and empowering for new recruits.

Michelin realizes manufacturing vision in record time
Michelin is not only forging a new path for manufacturing through digital transformation—it’s aiming to get there on a global scale at an incredible pace. The mission was to successfully deploy standardized, secure systems for capturing, storing, and distributing data at 68 manufacturing plants around the world in just three years. This was an unprecedented timeframe for such a complex process.
In the second year, we reached the [return on investment] level where we've paid for everything. This is only the beginning…. Next is more prediction and adaptability.
Thinking big, starting small, rolling out fast
We collaborated with Michelin’s digital manufacturing teams to create a singular solution for all 68 plants using the AVEVA PI System. We then set it up in nine demonstrator sites through a simpler architecture rollout to capture value early. Once Michelin confirmed that value, we launched a progressive rollout with full-blown architecture across the company over the next two and a half years. Michelin has been able to increase automation, improve energy efficiency and reduce water consumption. Looking ahead, the company has the foundation for advanced analytics across the company for decades to come.

Between the solar farm and the electrical outlet, electricity has a complex journey that often involves power producers, purchasers and schedulers. As electricity ownership moves from one party to the next, essential data also changes hands. Slow, laborious data sharing creates delays and missed opportunities. California energy consultant ZGlobal set out to challenge the status quo, to make this collaboration easier, faster and more secure.
It’s a big deal to be this transparent. We have the same data as our clients and we can look at the same data with them at the same time. This helps to differentiate us from competitors.
Creating a connected community
ZGlobal and its power generation and distribution partners now use AVEVA Data Hub to securely share industrial data through the cloud. Because everyone has access to a single shared source of data truth, collaboration is faster, more transparent and efficient. While one partner can swiftly diagnose any performance issues, another can provide better reporting to grid operators and consumers.

PCMC starts shaping a city of the future by driving resource efficiency use
Home to some 2 million residents, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is striving to become India’s most liveable city by 2030. To do that, PCMC wanted to create a data-driven approach to service delivery that could change the lives of its citizens for generations. But differing levels of insight across over 4,600 individual municipal systems – as well as a lack of real-time, consolidated IT and OT data – presented a huge challenge.
We can collaborate better using shared data and benefit from a real-time overview of civic performance, with the ability to predict and prescript activities to greatly improve our efficiencies and our residents’ safety and wellbeing.
A new vision from a single view
Powered by AVEVA Unified Operations Center, PCMC now has one pane of glass where the city’s IT and OT data converge into a single view. This integrated platform can talk to governance and traffic IT systems, as well as operational technology like water, energy and sewage. Consolidating all this data means PCMC can make better decisions faster, delivering radical reductions in pollution, traffic congestion and water loss.
